Herbert has over 22 years’ experience in Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental Matters, Law, Public Relations and Marketing; He provides expertise in consulting that blends his regional exposure covering Eastern and Southern Africa region with project initiation and management. Among the thematic issues he has dealt with include Corporate Governance, Environment, Law, Health and Safety, Human Rights, Community Engagement, Anti-Corruption, Employment and Labour issues.
A graduate of Moi University Eldoret, Herbert is a registered NEMA Lead Expert, ISO 22000 Lead Expert, certified EDES Expert, Health and Safety Expert as well as a JICA certified Trainer of Trainers. A pioneer Global Compact proponent Herbert is a member of the KEBS ISO 26000 National Mirror Committee as well as the Chairperson at the Institute For Education in Democracy (IED), Chairman Kenya Forest Service Coast Conservancy and the Chairman of the Environment Institute of Kenya.
Ms. Kokach is the regional Coordinator of the Eastern Africa Coalition for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (EACOR). She has expertise in carrying out gender analysis and mainstreaming gender concern in development. Venerable Gathaka is the Executive Director, Ecumenical Centre for Justice and Peace (ECJP) where he is also a founder Trustee of the Ecumenical Trust.He has written extensively and published materials on civic education; church, development, democracy, governance, devolution, constitutionalism and human rights; peace education; NEPAD/APRM; Anti-Corruption and environmental issues.He is a training facilitator consultant for a wide range of ToTs on civic/voter and peace education programmes.
Jepthah has initiated, organized and participated nationally and internationally in various advocacy and lobbying efforts in the promotion of justice, peace and reconciliation, inter-religious dialogue and environment. He has also served as a Parish Priest, Diocesan Administrative Secretary, Director of Communications and briefly as a missionary Archdeacon in the Anglican Diocese of Gambia. He is a graduate of theology from the Australian College of Theology and also studied communications, elections and conflict resolution, peace building, administration/ management, human rights etc in Kenya, USA, Canada, Singapore, Denmark, Ghana and Australia.
Jepthah has been the former Senior Director for the Programme of Justice, Peace and Reconciliation of the National Council of Churches of Kenya. He then devised and implemented the first Civic Education programme in Kenya in 1991 known as Education for Participatory Democracy. As the former Chair of NEPAD/Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) National Governing Council in Kenya 2005-2007, he steered the country to be the second to be reviewed after Ghana. Jepthah is also a former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Education in Democracy (IED), and he has vast experience in election Observation in Kenya, Africa Union Mission, EISA in Ghana, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Ghana, The Gambia and Gemany etc.
. Brian Weke is the Executive Director of IED. Prior to holding the Position of ED, he was the Deputy Director of The CRADLE –the children foundation. Mr. Weke has specialized in Human Rights with a bias to children, youth and women’s rights, Constitution, Gender; Democracy and Governance; Law of Non-Governmental Institutions; International Institutions, community training and organizational development, strategic Management including strategic Human Resource Development.
He was a member of the CSO reference group that drafted the Bill of Rights entrenched in the Constitution of Kenya. Mr. Weke was also a member of the Governance, Justice, Law and Order sector reform program (GJLOS) coordinating committee. He was also a member of the Technical Committee on Human Rights and Security. Brian has held different leadership positions, A board member of Childline Kenya, he was the chair of Human Resource sub committee, a board member of Human Rights House.
Brian Holds a Masters of Science on organizational Development from USIU, Bachelors of Business Administration, Limkokwing University and Bachelors of Laws from Catholic University. Mr. Weke has been engaged in a number of community service activities including but not limited to Setting up an Educational Trust Fund for Girls in Rusinga Island, Suba District; Mentorship talks (on political leadership) to youth and women.
. Joyce Miguda Majiwa (OGW) (SC) is a founder member and Chair Person of the Institute for Education in Democracy. Prior to becoming the Chairperson, Joyce served in the board of Directors of the institute. She has been instrumental in developing effective policies for promotion of democratic practices, civic education, capacity building as well as election monitoring. Joyce is advocate of the High court of Kenya with twenty years experience in successful legal practice. In addition, Joyce also has 20 years experience in the civil society having served several organizations in various capacities.
Joyce has provided leadership as the Chairperson of the Federation of Women Lawyers (Kenya FIDA K), the National Vice Chairperson and Founder-member, the League of Kenya Women Voters, delegate to the National Constitution Conference in Kenya and the Convener of the Transitional and Consequential Arrangements Committee as well as the First Vice-Chairperson, Law Society Standing Committee on Constitutional Review. Joyce is a Legal advisor, to several national and regional civil society organizations. She has served in the boards of at least five major organizations.
Joyce was awarded the National award of the Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya in recognition for work her in Development and Human Rights in December, 2006 and was conferred with the rank of Senior Counsel in recognition of exemplary service to the legal and public service in Kenya in December 2012. She continues to use her expertise and experience to advance justice, human rights, democracy and development, as a referral lawyer and legal advisor, consultant in human rights, trainer in democratic governance, researcher and in gender and development.
Joyce has a law degree from University of Nairobi, Post Graduate Diploma in Gender and Development Studies from University of Nairobi and Masters in Human Rights from University of Pretoria.
Joyce is committed the ideals of democracy, in her term as the Chair Person of the Institute for Education in Democracy, she intends to provide strategic leadership that will see the organization’s advancement and excellence in providing knowledge for democracy in Kenya and the Africa region.

Ms. Odembo is an experienced development consultant and an entrepreneur. She is also a prominent business woman owning Legacy Bookshops in Nairobi. She is founder member of the League of Kenya Women Voters. She is also active in the informal sector as a manager and consultant.
