Brian Weke is the Executive Director of IED. Prior to holding the Position of ED, he was the Deputy Director of The CRADLE –the children foundation. Mr. Weke has specialized in Human Rights with a bias to children, youth and women’s rights, Constitution, Gender; Democracy and Governance; Law of Non-Governmental Institutions; International Institutions, community training and organizational development, strategic Management including strategic Human Resource Development.
He was a member of the CSO reference group that drafted the Bill of Rights entrenched in the Constitution of Kenya. Mr. Weke was also a member of the Governance, Justice, Law and Order sector reform program (GJLOS) coordinating committee. He was also a member of the Technical Committee on Human Rights and Security. Brian has held different leadership positions, A board member of Childline Kenya, he was the chair of Human Resource sub committee, a board member of Human Rights House.
Brian Holds a Masters of Science on organizational Development from USIU, Bachelors of Business Administration, Limkokwing University and Bachelors of Laws from Catholic University. Mr. Weke has been engaged in a number of community service activities including but not limited to Setting up an Educational Trust Fund for Girls in Rusinga Island, Suba District; Mentorship talks (on political leadership) to youth and women.
Elizabeth Kirema is an Educationist and a Researcher with a Masters Degree in Education and a Bachelor of Education Arts Degree in social sciences. Elizabeth has over six years experience in Civil Society work related to Governance, Democracy and Elections. She is an expert in Result Based Management (RBM) and Gender Mainstreaming (GM) approaches to project management.
Elizabeth is a skilled and experienced researcher having conducted a number of researches related to elections. She has demonstrated skills and knowledge in capacity enhancement, material development, training, monitoring, evaluation and documentation. She has very strong analytical skills and report writing skills in additional to interpersonal and communication skills.
With a Masters degree in International Development (MID) from La Trobe University and electioneering expertise from the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), Carla compliments her proficiency in good governance and democracy education with her commitment to promote a free, just and democratic society.
As a leading capacity building practitioner in Kenya, Carla’s portfolio includes a range of institutional strengthening, strategic planning, mentorship and learning for democratic governance initiatives for both state actors and civil society.

Kennedy is a result driven, self-motivated, and resourceful expert in human rights, governance and democracy. He has extensive and proven expertise in capacity development, stakeholders’ facilitation, curriculum development and training and in the development of programmes involving a diverse range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society organizations (CSOs), Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs), government, bi-lateral and multi-lateral agencies in the areas of governance and elections. Kennedy holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Honors degree from Moi University.Mr. Benjamin Wambua - Accountant

Josephine holds a Diploma in Secretarial Studies from Cambridge College, she also holds Diploma in Social work and Social Development from University of Nairobi and currently she is perusing a Bachelors of Art Degree in Development Studies at Mt. Kenya University. Since she joined IED she has undergone trainings on Results Based Management (RBM), Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Gender Mainstreaming and Geographical Information System and GPS at the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD)Mr. Joseph I Muhoro - ICT & Website Officer
Joseph has vast experience in Geographic data collection, analysis and visualization. He has a BSc degree in Geomatic Engineering and Geospatial Information Systems from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Joseph has participated in several ESRI User conferences and workshops as a paper presenter on the utility of GIS in elections.
He is also an experienced researcher and data analyst and he has made contributions in the assessment of the voters register to ascertain its accuracy, timeliness and completeness. He is also an experienced facilitator and trainer.
Fred holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, with a minor in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the United States International University (USIU). He is knowledgeable in foreign policy, diplomacy, conflict resolution, political science and international political economics as well as work psychology and human resource management. Mr. Evance Mureke - Office Assistant
